Vix Technology Wins Contracts In Brest, Lorient and Quimper

Besancon, France, February 4, 2011. After an “invitation to tender” launched during the summer of 2010 by Brest Metropole, Cap Lorient Agglomeration and Quimper Communaute authorities, Vix Technology France has just been awarded a tender for the renewal of 3 different ticketing systems in the French cities of Brest, Lorient and Quimper. This joint order includes the supply, installation and commissioning of three different fare collection systems, all based on a single regional interoperable “KORRIGO” card.

The project will cover the equipment of more than 250 buses and 20 light rail cars and exceed 5 million in revenue for Vix Technology France.

Brest has chosen a mixed system composed of magnetic tickets and “KORRIGO” contactless cards. These media will be validated on combined V6000 validators installed in the 165 city’s buses and the 20 streetcar lines. Furthermore, the future network transport will count one ticket vending machine per tramway station and a card reloading service over the web. Vix Technology will also supply 70,000 contactless cards at the initial launch of the system.

Unlike Brest, the city of Lorient, has opted for a full contactless ticketing system based on smart cards and smart disposable and reloadable tickets. So, the 130 city’s buses will be equipped with two contactless and WIFI validators. Furthermore, Vix Technology will supply 70 POS terminals for card issuing and reload.

Quimper City preferred a solution based on paper ticket and smart cards. These media will be issued and validated on the 50 city’s buses equipped with the latest generation of Vix driver consoles. (TP 5700).

This new contract demonstrate Vix Technology’s ability to provide tailor made solutions for cities according to the needs of each public transport network while enabling interoperability with the use of a single card.

The commissioning of the 3 systems will take place gradually between Q4 2011 and 2012.
